11TH ANNUAL ST. PAUL GOLF TOURNAMENT is Friday, September 23 at 12 p.m. at Lebanon Valley Golf Course, Myerstown.  Men and women are encouraged to play!  $30 per person, 4-person scramble (blind draw).  Please see sign-up sheet in narthex for more info.  Deadline is September 18th.

ARTISANS OF ST. PAUL will be holding an organizational meeting for the “Holiday Bazaar 2011” is scheduled for Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the lounge.  Please plan to attend to get a jump start and to have an even bigger and better event than last year.  This is being combined with craft night so come and get a 2 for 1—bazaar planning and crafting!

NEEDED: Flat sheets, fitted sheets and pieces of cotton material for blanket making. There is a plastic container in the narthex marked “Cotton material and/or sheets” for these donations.

VOLUNTEERS FOR LITITZ MEALS ON WHEELS needed toprepare & deliver approx. 50 meals daily, Monday- Friday, to shut-ins residing within the Warwick School District.  Drivers are currently needed for certain days of the week (one day per month), or to substitute from time to time. Meal deliveries begin at 10:45am and drivers deliver to one of four routes covering Brickerville, Rothsville, Kissel Hill and Lititz Borough. If you are able to help or would like more details, contact driver coordinator Debby Pegg at 201-2690 (cell) or 627-2559.

PLEASE NOTE that the new worship assistant lists for Communion Assistants and Assisting Ministers are in the narthex.  Hazel has stepped down as the volunteer coordinator, so it would be tremendously helpful if we could have names filled in these slots each week without having to call and ask for volunteers.  Thank you in advance for your willingness to serve.

 

ELCA YOUTH GATHERING is scheduled for July 18-July 23, 2012, in New Orleans, LA.  Any youth just finishing 9th grade or has just graduated in June 2012, are eligible as well as adults.  Sigh up on the Youth Bulletin Board in the narthex.  We will be meeting in early September to finalize the details.

THE WOMEN OF THE ELCA will meet on September 17, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the church social hall.  The program is “Ministry to Women Coming Out of Prison,” a ministry of the LSS.  Rev. Sadie Pounder will give some fundamental facts about women in the Criminal Justice System and some very practical ways the Women of the ELCA can help, including putting together “Survival Packs” for those recently released from prison or jail.  Afterwards, we will hold the Service of Remembrance.  Following the program, we will have an informal lunch social, soup will be provided.  Please bring either a salad or a dessert to share.  Place settings and beverages will also be provided.  Invite a friend!  Need transportation?   Call Merle Singer, 626-1103 or Pat Gerfen, 626-6057.

LSS WOMEN OF THE ELCA Retreat is Friday, Saturday & Sunday, October 28, 29, 30 at Camp Hebron, Halifax, PA.  The theme is “So You Want to go Back to Egypt”.  The presenter is Jan Davis, Associate in Ministry, St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Hanover.  Participants may attend three days or Saturday only.  Registration is due September 17th.  For more information view the synod website, www.lss-elca.org then click on councils/committees, then Women of the ELCA, or call Phyllis Frankhouser, 626-4200.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER for Peace Community Worship will be held on Sunday, September 18th at 7:00 p.m. at the Lititz Church of the Brethren.  Retired ELCA pastor David Johnson will be the guest speaker.  Lititz United Methodist Church Praise Band, “Awakened”, will lead in praise songs.  Youth are encouraged to attend.

BRIDGE OF HOPE Community Ministry Fair and Fun Day will be on Sept. 17 from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Cherry Crest Adventure Farm.  Please see Phyllis Frankhouser for tickets ($15).

PERSONAL CARE KITS (formerly called Health Kits) will be collected during September. During the October 2nd church services, these kits will be blessed, then packed and sent to Lutheran World Relief. Along with the changes in the kit name are changes in what is put into a kit. A list of items to include in a kit is posted on the Women of the ELCA bulletin board in the narthex. Please take a list, follow the steps to make a kit and put the finished kit in the container in the narthex marked “Personal Care Kits.” Thank you for your generous help with this project.

QUILT & KIT SHIPPING FUND (formerly called Project Comfort) – During September, we will be collecting funds for the Quilt & Kit Shipping Fund to help pay for shipping costs of quilts & kits to be distributed to people in need by Lutheran World Relief. Envelopes can be found in the narthex. Thank you for supporting this project.

THE ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE will be accepting requests from the congregation, committee chairs and church council for funds from the annual distribution from the Endowment Fund.  This year there is a form available on the church website, www.stpaullititz.net.  It is under “membership information-endowment”.  Forms are also available in the church office.  All requests must be in the church office by October 15th.  For additional information, contact Phyllis Frankhouser, Endowment Chairperson, 626-4200. 

WELCA is sponsoring a new small group, Ladies Lunch Bunch, a dine-out opportunity for all women of St. Paul.  Following a short devotion, the group will enjoy a delicious meal at a Lancaster County restaurant in fellowship with their church sisters.  Each participant will individually choose from the menu and be responsible for payment of their own lunch.  The first lunch will be at the Brickerville House Restaurant on Thursday, September 29th at 11:45 a.m.  If you desire to carpool, please meet at the church parking lot by 11:30 a.m.  Reservations to Phyllis Frankhouser, 626-4200, by September 25th. 

LCO SINGLES will meet at the Caddy Shack on Rt. 72 in Manheim, on Friday, Sept. 16at 6 p.m.  Enjoy the best crab cakes, broasted chicken and ice cream!  If so inclined, you may play a round of golf for $6 as well.  The following week on Saturday, Sept. 24, some will participate in the Memory Walk benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association.  We will be walking for the Pleasant View Striders team or as individuals.  The walk starts at 10 a.m. at Long’s Park, Pavilion #1.  Anyone needing a ride or wanting to make a donation can contact Kathy Ross at 468-7582.   

SUPPER CLUB SIGN UP sheets are on the kiosk in the narthex.  Sign up deadline is Oct. 30.  We will begin our supper club groups in January, 2012.  Couples and singles are welcome.  Give us a try!  Good food & great relationships abound!  Any questions, contact Deb Rothermel at 627-2107 or Lori Nikoloff at 626-1767.

SEPTEMBER FOOD DRIVE for the Lititz Warwick Community Chest: We are focusing on 5 items: juice or juice boxes for children (no prune or tomato please), instant oatmeal, jelly, canned chicken or spam, toothbrushes (single or double packs only for adults or children. EMPTY BOWLS PROJECT: Want to be crafty and help local and world hunger? Zion Lutheran Church in Leola is sponsoring a Empty bowls Open Hearts Dinner on October 2nd. The crafty part is that you can paint your bowl. if you are interested, see the signup book for more information.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE NOW HAVE SIGN UP BOOKS--ONE FOR THE WORSHIP ASSISTANTS, FLOWERS AND BREAD, AND ONE FOR THE SMALL GROUPS, CLUBS, ETC.  ANYTIME YOU ARE REMINDED TO SIGN UP FOR SOMETHING, ALL SIGN UP SHEETS WILL BE IN THE SAME LOCATION!
