Announcements for October 6

10/9/2013

CRAFT SHOW ENTRY FORMS are available on the kiosk in the narthex and in the office. Please remit $25 fee with the form to reserve your spot.  First come, first served.   Please note that the date of this year’s craft show/bazaar is a week earlier.  It will be held on Friday evening, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th.

THE ENDOWMENT COMMITTEE will be accepting requests from the congregation, committee chairs and church council for funds from the annual distribution from the Endowment Fund.  There is a form available on the church website, www.stpaullititz.net.  It is under “member information-endowment”.  Forms are also available at the church office.  All requests must be in the church office by October 15th.  For additional information, contact Troy Wingenroth, Endowment Chairperson, 627-2111.

THE LADIES LUNCH BUNCH will gather on October 16th at 11:30 at Fiorentino’s at the airport in Lititz.  All ladies are welcome to join us.  Their Italian food is so delightful! Please sign up in the book located at the kiosk in the Narthex.  Any questions can be directed to Nancy Miller at 405-0000.

FRIENDS IN TANZANIA  is the title of John & Linda Bell's talk about their trip to Tanzania this summer.  Not only did they make friends at Kanga, our companion congregation, they also made friends at the Konde Diocese as well as with a lioness at Ruaha National Park.  Join them to hear more about their adventures and, most importantly, about our companions in Kanga.  They will be showing pictures and serving coffee and pastry in the Social Hall during the Sunday school hour on Sunday, October 27.  There will be a special program for the Sunday school children on the following Sunday, November 3.

THANK YOU to Ann Ahlers and Wendy Kellogg for their wonderful assistance with the choir and music these past weeks.

SPGGG: For all of the St. Paul Garden Group (SPGG) members, you have done a wonderful job of making the church grounds look colorful and inviting. Thank you for your efforts for which SPGGG could stand for St. Paul Great Garden Group!

THANK YOU to our congregation for your very generous donations to the food drive last week!  We collected 1,173 pounds of food.  Your response will touch so many in our community who are in need.  Again, this is an amazing example of God's love being shared by our hands.  Thank you!

THE SENIOR’S FALL LUNCHEON will be on Tuesday, October 8 at 11:30 am in the social hall.  After lunch, we will brainstorm future socials and outings for our new “Senior’s Socials & Outings” group.  Please bring along any ideas of that you may have for socials & outings as well as a name for our new group.  If you have any questions, please contact Barb Paynter at 626-4709 or bpaynter@stpaullititz.net.

RUTH CIRCLE Meets today in the Library.  Deborah, a Determined Leader, will be presented by Barbara Weaver.

TODAY IS APPLE SUNDAY!  As you leave church today, you will be given an apple.  It is given as a reminder of the spiritual fruit that Jesus has chosen and appointed us to bear (John 15:16).  Ask Jesus to show you opportunities and to equip you to bear the fruit of faith by serving, witnessing and encouraging others.  As the apostle John exclaimed, "This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples" (John 18:8).

GETTING TO 100 BLANKETS: All of the blankets on display today began with contributions.  This past year’s materials come from the sewing group from Zion Lutheran Church in Manheim, Shari and Ed Kiehl, Louise Shreiner, Kathryn Zug, Edna Petticoffer and an unknown number of anonymous donators.

When patches were put in the narthex to be sewn at home, these people helped with that:  Marylou Gooch, Susan Kelly, Pam Kiskaddon, Bette Loemker, Carol Miller, Kelly Perkins, Sarah Ruppert, Joyce Groff and Meryl Singer.  Mary Roth also cut patches at home.

From October 2012 to September 2013, the following participated in the blanket making sessions:  Sandy Bingaman, Donna Boland, Linda Calhoun, Marsha Campbell, Stephanie Cramer, Marylou Gooch, Joyce Groff, LaRue Ketner, Pam Kiskaddon, Deb Herr, Sue Long, Reba Oberlin, Arline Shannon, Nancy Usner, Marion Weaver, Waltraut Wegner, Nancy Weiss, Marty Althouse, Sharyn Garrett, Janice Hackman, Joyce Loercher, Dawne Mellinger, Kathy Ross.

To help with packing the blankets, Sherri Yohn provides the boxes.  Thank you to each person who has helped with blanket making, a personal care kit contribution, and knitted or crocheted items.  It will be a pleasure to get them to the necessary sites for distribution for needy recipients.

SEV & PAT YERGER would like to extend a THANK YOU to everyone for all of the cards, prayers and well wishes during Sev’s convalescence.

DON SHAUB would like to express his sincere thanks and gratitude for all who helped in refurbishing 39 S. Broad St., Lititz.  This was the home of the Burmese family we had sponsored, who have moved to a new location.
