Announcements for December 8

12/5/2013

WE WOULD LIKE TO find volunteers who would be interested in writing and delivering the Children’s Message.  It would be nice to have some new faces to share a message with the children.  If you are interested in doing so, please contact Pastor Gable.

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL CHOIR:  Anyone who likes to sing and would like to participate with the choir for our 9 p.m. Christmas Eve Service is welcome to join us.  The choir will be singing anthems that will include bells, flute, and harp.  If you are interested, rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting December 4.   If you have questions, please contact Jane Brye at 393-5009, any choir member or just come and join us.  Merry Christmas!

GIFTS FOR OUR HOMEBOUND MEMBERS are in the narthex.  Please help to deliver them to the member listed on the gift.  Please deliver after Thanksgiving.  Thank you!

LADIES LUNCH BUNCH will gather on December 18th at 11:30 at Lititz Family Cupboard, 12 W. Newport Road in Lititz.  All ladies are welcome to join us as we enjoy the buffet full of delicious Lancaster County foods or something simple from the menu! Please sign up in the book located at the kiosk in the Narthex.  Any questions can be directed to Nancy Miller at 405-0000.

THE ST. PAUL WOMEN OF THE ELCA thank the congregation for their tremendous generosity in support of Thankoffering Sunday.  The special offering, which will be sent to church-wide Women of the ELCA, is $2000.00!!

THE NEWEST DISPLAY in the narthex showcase includes Christmas bulletins from the 1950's and l960's, old photos of the Christmas decorations in the Spruce Street church in the early 1900's, a family Bible from 1890 open to the Christmas story and more, with wishes for an old-fashioned Christmas from the St. Paul Archives Committee.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING will be on Friday, Dec. 13.  Join us at 6:00 pm for pizza & fellowship in the Social Hall followed by decorating the Nave & Narthex.  A free will offering will be taken for dinner. Everyone is invited!  Sign up on the kiosk.

ALTERNATIVE GIVING:  If you would like an alternative giving option this holiday season, and you may be considering donating to a charity, our stewardship team is suggesting giving to the pharmacy at the Konde Diocese, Tanzania, where the Bell’s visited this past summer.  If you would like to make a donation, please write out your check to St. Paul and put on the memo line “Konde Pharmacy”.  Thank you!

THANK YOU to the St. Paul Senior’s Group for helping to run the stations at the Advent Festival.  The children really enjoyed interacting with the Senior Group and we hope to do more of it in the future.  Everyone had a wonderful time!

ANGEL TREE: This year we will be having an Angel Tree in the Narthex so that we can share God’s Love with children in our community whose families may be struggling financially. Please choose an angel (there are 3 left!) and write your name on the paper by the tree.  Bring your wrapped gift back to church by Dec. 15 with the angel tag attached.  Gifts will then be distributed to the children/families.
