THE CHRISTIAN SERVICE BOX: The December Christian Service Box is dedicated to DoctorsWithout Borders. It is a private, nonprofit organization. It was founded in 1971 as the first nongovernmental organization to both provide emergency medical assistance and speak out about the plight of the people it assists. The commitment and generosity of their supporters enables Doctors Without Borders field teams to respond quickly to medical emergencies around the world, saving hundreds of thousands of lives every year. You can visit their website at www.doctorswithoutborders.org or check out the information at our Mission Life kiosk. Thanks!
ADVENT, THE FIRST SEASON of the church year, is followed by the twelve days of Christmas, Epiphany and Time After Ephiphany. Each season features its own color: blue, white, then green. Inspect the old altar cloths and pastoral stoles used in the early 1970's when our church sanctuary was first built. The new display includes colorful church bulletins from these three seasons as well as a Sunday school handout given to youngsters forty years ago. Stop by the Archives showcase in the narthex to reminisce.
AUGSBURG ADULT BIBLE STUDY CLASS: This class is open to all adults and meets in the church lounge at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays.
Today “A Promise to Abram” Diana Hill

FROM THE TREASURER-Love makes us do it! Jesus said, “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.” Romans 12:13. It’s hard to believe that it is December already. The first eleven months have gone by so quickly. The season of Advent is here and Christmas is only a few days away. This is the season we not only wait in anticipation for the celebration of Christ’s birth but in giving to others. Not only in the form of presents but also in the form of sharing our love with our family, our friends and those who are in need.
As I look back over this year, we as disciples of St. Paul have gathered to worship, we have grown in the faith and we have served our community as well as others in the world. This is our mission and we have lived it well through the giving of ourselves and our financial support. With the end of the year coming quickly you may want to make sure your financial commitment to the church is up to date. If you made no financial commitment then consider sharing more of the blessings you have received. There is plenty of need to go around. Besides, if for no other reason, I like to think that love makes you do it!
The last day for contributions to 2011 is December 31st. If you are not sure where you stand with your pledge, give me a call or text or email (717-615-5249 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
