DO YOU PLAY A WIND INSTRUMENT? For this year's worship service at Lititz Springs Park (August 16), we are forming a wind band to play the hymns from musicians from each of the churches. The more, the merrier! Be in touch with Valerie if you're interested. She will be digging out her saxophone (and possibly subjecting herself to public humiliation!); dust off your instrument and come out and play!
NEEDED: Sheets & cotton material for blanket making. Please place in plastic container in the narthex.
THE WOMEN OF THE ELCA is collecting items for the Gettysburg Seminary Food Bank. The following can be placed in the container in the narthex. Cereal, canned vegetables, macaroni, granola bars, sugar, flour, peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, baking mixes. Also soap, shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste. Paper products: plates, cups, napkins, paper towels, diapers (any size), feminine hygiene products. Gift cards: Giant, Weis, Walmart. Give cards to church office or Phyllis Frankhouser. DO NOT PLACE IN CONTAINER.
THE WELCA BOOK CLUB: Thursday, August 6 at 7:00 PM in the Lounge. The selection is God: Stories by C. Michael Curtis. Come and share your thoughts on your favorite story/stories from this collection.
LIBERIAN STUDENT TUITION SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM: Thank you to the many St. Paul members who have partnered with the charity, God's Precious Children, to sponsor a child's school tuition last year. School is expected to resume in September and student profiles are now available for the 2015-16 school year in the narthex. For those who indicated an interest in continuing to sponsor the same student, profiles are in envelopes labeled with the sponsor's name. Several additional students are also available for sponsorships. Payments can be returned to the church until August 30th or mailed directly to God's Precious Children, as directed on the information included with the student profile. If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Wingenroth at 627-2111 or email@example.com. Thank you!
SUMMER COMMUNITY LUNCH: Thank you to everyone who helped with our community lunches by cooking, serving, cleaning, donating foods, and baking. Over the 5 weeks we served over 300 people! What an amazing outreach to our community - Thank you!
SENIORS POOL PARTY: Join us on Wednesday, August 12 from 1-3pm at the Nikoloff’s house (3 Crest Dr., Lititz) for an afternoon by the pool. There are shaded areas to sit and chat or wear your bathing suit if you’d like to swim. Please bring a snack to share. Paper products and drinks will be provided.
THE LADIES LUNCH BUNCH will gather on August 19, at 11:30 at Knight 'n Day Diner, 245 Bloomfield Dr, Lititz. All ladies are welcome to join us and enjoy some great food and conversation! Don’t forget your “Sharing Our Success” cards to participate in the fund raising for St. Paul. We hope to have you join us. Please sign up in the book located at the kiosk in the Narthex. Any questions can be directed to Nancy Miller at 405-0000.
BETH MOORE EVENING STUDY for women titled “Children of the Day” will be hosted here at St. Paul on Monday evenings from Sept. 14th through Nov. 9th, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. in the choir room. “Children of the Day” is a nine week in depth study of the books 1st and 2nd Thessalonians and will be led by Phyllis Frankhouser. The Study covers a wide variety of topics including family, prayer, ministries to others and prophecies. The study includes a weekly video presentation, group discussion and workbook study on your own. You need not attend every session to be a part of the group. The cost is $16 per person to cover the cost of the materials. For more information, or to register, contact Barb Paynter at 626-4709 or firstname.lastname@example.org by September 10th.
THANK YOU! I want to take this time to let my St. Paul Family know that they are the epitome of a Christian, compassionate church. The telephone calls, cards, visitations and most of all the prayers got me through a difficult time. As I recover, I still feel your strength. Godspeed and again, THANK YOU! Joe Doster.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE will be meeting on August 13th at 6:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to join, please come!
THE BURGER BUNCH is on the move! DJ’s Taste of the ‘50s in Smoketown was great. We can add that one to the win column. The next place we will visit is Hunger-N-Thirst, 920 Landis Ave, Lancaster. According to Michael Long, Staff Writer for LNP, “The burger philosophy of this trendy little spot on the outskirts of the city appears to be: Concentrate on one thing and do it well.” He says the H-N-T Burger, the only one on the menu, costs more than normal even with the fries. But it’s worth every penny. Served with bacon marmalade, Cabot cheddar and tomato ancho aioli on a brioche bun, the H-N-T burger is probably the best on this list. Michael says when you bite into it, you will understand. Join us on Friday, August 14 at 6:00 PM at Hunger-N-Thirst. Sign up in the small-groups book on the kiosk in the narthex.
NATIONAL BOOK FESTIVAL BUS TRIP to Washington, DC will take place on Saturday, September 5th. Cost is $35 for transportation. Bus will be leaving St. Paul at 7 a.m. , and will be leaving the Convention Center at 5 p.m. to return home. For reservations, contact Brenda Penny at 626-1086, ASAP!
