DID YOU KNOW that during part of our church's 125 year history, the Warwick School District used church facilities for classes? Actually, thirteen rooms in our new educational building were "rented" for kindergarten, fifth and sixth grade rooms during the 1965-66 school year. There was acute shortage of space in the district; the Middle School, Kissel Hill Elementary and J.R. Bonfield Elementary schools had not yet been built. Presently, the St. Paul Nursery School and St. Paul Christian Child Care Center share space with our Christian Education classes in this very same facility. Want to learn more about our church history? Plan on attending the celebratory luncheon next Sunday, May 1, when an interesting historical program will be presented.

IN HONOR OF Lynn Bitzer and his ongoing battle with leukemia, I am training for and participating in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon, a 26.2 mile run, on May 15, 2011 to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). I have teamed up with Thrivent Financial to raise money for LLS. For every $3 we raise, Thrivent adds $1. How about you? Can you provide some financial support on Lynn’s behalf to help find a cure for this dreaded disease that strikes about 20,000 people per year? Please make your checks payable to “Thrivent Financial for Lutherans” and include “Steve Shaub/LLS” on the memo line. Just drop your check in the offering plate and together we’ll find a cure for blood cancers!!
PRAYER SHAWL COLLECTION: St. Paul Women of the ELCA plan to collect, label and send shawls donated between now and the end of May, to the Eighth Triennial Gathering of the Women of the ELCA in Spokane, Washington. The shawls will be given to ministries in the host synod—the Eastern Washington-Idaho Synod. Forms that give specific details are available in the narthex at the Women of the ELCA kiosk or you can call Nancy Weiss at 626-0994. (This collection is in addition to, not in place of, the St. Paul Prayer Shawl Ministry.)
