POWER PACK PROJECT
St. Paul is embarking on a new outreach project that will directly benefit our own children and families right here in Lititz. It is called the Power Packs Project. Power Packs provides weekend food and nutritional information to families. The goal of the program is to empower families by teaching them how to stretch their food dollars and the importance of regularly providing healthy meals so that their children go to school well-fed and ready to learn. Power Packs provides long-term solutions to end childhood hunger.
Currently ten school districts in Lancaster County are being served by Power Packs with approximately 750 families receiving food and nutritional education. In the Warwick School District, Lititz Moravian Church has partnered with Power Packs to serve Lititz Elementary School. Currently this is the only school in Warwick being served. We, as a congregation, would like to partner with Power Packs to serve the children of a second elementary school so that more children and families can receive food and nutritional education to end childhood hunger here in our community.
We need YOU to make this outreach program work. Each week, Power Packs will provide the food and recipe for each family to cook a healthy dinner for their family as well as healthy snacks &/or breakfast so that their children return to school well fed and ready to learn. Our responsibility as a partner with Power Packs is to transport the food from their warehouse in Lancaster to the elementary school and distribute it to the families. We are looking for volunteers who would be able to donate one hour on a Thursday afternoon to make this happen. Our hope is to have enough volunteers to have a rotating schedule where each volunteer is asked to help one week per month.
TODAY the Power Packs Project will be presented to our congregation at our outdoor worship service. Please join us to learn more about how we can partner together and empower local families to help end childhood hunger. We will have a sign-up for anyone who would like to support this mission.
