THE CHRISTIAN SERVICE BOX for December will benefit the New Choices/New Beginnings program. This program is designed to benefit women in transition by giving them the skills and resources to succeed upon release from prison and return to the community of Lancaster County. They learn the value of self-esteem, effective communication styles, and stress management. They are also introduced to a variety of community resources, which may help with housing, legal, and medical issues. Upon successful completion of the course, these women may be eligible to receive scholarship funds to pursue short-term education. They also received continuous support and guidance from the dedicated new choices staff for a minimum of six months upon release.

COFFEE, TEA OR CHOCOLATE? YES PLEASE!! Equal Exchange trades fairly and directly with 40 small-scale farmer co-operatives world-wide to bring us delicious coffee, tea, and chocolate. The farmers are located in underdeveloped countries throughout the world. Equal Exchange donates twenty cents to one dollar per product to Lutheran World Relief’s (LWR) Small Farmer Fund. These funds enable LWR to support human rights, capacity building, and environmental initiatives. WELCA is making the products available at cost in order to support small-scale farmers who are providing for their families, improving their communities, and caring for their land through fair trade. Coffee, tea, and chocolate will be available during select weeks in December.

DO YOU LIKE READING OUR OUTDOOR SIGN? Would you be interested in coming in every few weeks (or as needed) and changing it to reflect what is going on here at St. Paul? The pastor and staff can provide you with what to put up on it, but we really could use a couple folks to take care of changing the messages. If this is something you are able to do, please call the office and we can set you up!
TELECARE is a church team ministry that seeks to provide a connected sense of community among our church family. The telephone is its chief piece of equipment — more than 150 calls have been made so far this year to shut-ins, hospitalized, new and prospective members and in-actives. The team meets the second Monday of the month at 1pm in the church lounge. New members are always welcome. If this is a way you might serve here at St. Paul, come to our next meeting tomorrow, December 13, or call Marsha Campbell 626-8078.
SIGN UP SHEETS are in the RED sign-up book for Christmas Eve worship assistants (Communion Assistants and Ushers). There is also a sign up for Lessons and Carols readers. Please sign up and take a copy of your reading.
